First United Methodist Church Westfield

Collection for Homeless Pets: We will be collecting items for Union County Humane Society through the end of June. Old blankets, towels and sheets are needed to use for bedding, and there is a big need for liquid disinfectant cleaning products that are safe for animals. Look for the pet donation bin in the lobby area. For more information, please contact Vanessa Zimmerman at!

Free Meals Program

FUMC prepares and serves a free meal with Covenant UMC in Plainfield on the 2nd Monday of each month from September to June. For more information about how you can get involved with this wonderful ministry, please contact the church office or Joann Huber at

Our next time to serve at the Free Meals Program is June 11th! Although we have a faithful crew, we welcome anyone who would like to come and join us!

Westfield Food Pantry

The Westfield Food Pantry has an urgent need this summer for the following items: Condensed soups (e.g., Campbell’s), Jelly, Pancake Syrup, Toothbrushes and Toothpaste, Soap and Shampoo, and Canned fruit.

Donations can be left in the Food Pantry bin in the church lobby. Thank you for your contributions! Click here to learn more about the food pantry.

Each week, donated items from the bin in our lobby need to be transported to the Food Pantry, which is located at Holy Trinity Interparochial School at 336 First Street. There is a new sign-up sheet outside the Church Office next to the worship flowers sign-up sheet. Pick a week and sign up to ensure these items get to those who need them! They can be delivered any weekday morning between 9:30 and 11:00 AM. Contact Joann Huber with questions.

FUMC Gardens

FUMC also has a vegetable garden that is harvested and donated to the Food Pantry. We were able to harvest 422 lbs. of food to donate in 2017 thanks to all of our wonderful volunteers!

On Saturday May 26th (9:00 am till noon) we will be mulching many of the flowerbeds around the church. Many workers, plus wheelbarrows, pitchforks, shovels, and rakes will be needed. If you’re interested in helping out, please contact Dan Bottorff at

If you would like to be a part of this network of volunteers or would like more information about the program, please contact Laura Gribbin ( or Sue Gandy (
