Free Meals Program

FUMC prepares and serves a free meal with Covenant UMC in Plainfield on the 2nd Monday of each month from September to June. For more information about how you can get involved with this wonderful ministry, please contact the church office or Joann Huber at huberkj@aol.com.

Our next time to host Free Meals will be on February 12th. Although we have a faithful crew, we welcome anyone who would like to come and join us!

Westfield Food Pantry

The Westfield Food Pantry has an urgent need this summer for the following items: Condensed soups (e.g., Campbell’s), Jelly, Pancake Syrup, Toothbrushes and Toothpaste, Soap and Shampoo, and Canned fruit.

Donations can be left in the Food Pantry bin in the church lobby. Thank you for your contributions! Click here to learn more about the food pantry.

Each week, donated items from the bin in our lobby need to be transported to the Food Pantry, which is located at Holy Trinity Interparochial School at 336 First Street. There is a new sign-up sheet outside the Church Office next to the worship flowers sign-up sheet. Pick a week and sign up to ensure these items get to those who need them! They can be delivered any weekday morning between 9:30 and 11:00 AM. Contact Rev. Su Iliff or Joann Huber with questions.

FUMC also has a vegetable garden that is harvested and donated to the Food Pantry. We were able to harvest 422 lbs. of food to donate in 2017 thanks to all of our wonderful volunteers! If you would be interested in helping to maintain or harvest the garden, please contact Dan Bottorff at sd.bottorff@verizon.net.

Prayer Shawl Ministry

Prayer Shawl Ministry meets on Wednesdays at 12 PM in the Fellowship Room to create Prayer Shawls (crochet and knit) for the congregation and community.

Family Promise

Family Promise of Union County is an organization working to address the problem of family homelessness. A network of churches and community centers offer their space as temporary housing for homeless families, while Family Promise provides them with resources to help them break the cycle of homelessness for good. In partnership with Family Promise, FUMC offers our space as well as volunteers to prepare meals and stay with families. If you would like to be a part of this network of volunteers or would like more information about the program, please contact Laura Gribbin (lkraftgribbin@yahoo.com) or Sue Gandy (susan_gandy@hotmail.com). You can sign up for shifts on our SignUp Genius page here!

Our next week to host with Family Promise will be April 8th-15th, 2018.

Soup Ministry

Our Soup Ministry meets once a month on Saturday mornings to make soup to put in the freezer – it will then be taken to church members who are shut-ins or having a rough time. For more information on how you can get involved please contact Barbara Richey at bbrichey1@mac.com.
